Insurance

We are in-network with many commercial insurances, as well as Medicaid and Medicare. We will discuss if your services through True North Counseling will be covered by your insurance provider during our brief phone consultation. Please check with your insurance to inquire about your coverage for Behavioral Health services. Co-payments are expected at the time of service.

For those insurances that we are not in-network with, we are happy to submit claims to your insurance company. For those out-of-network clients, payment is expected in full at the time of service.

Self-Pay

Self-pay allows you to maintain greater confidentiality and privacy, as we will not need to provide a formal mental health diagnosis for billing. When therapists bill insurance for counseling services, they are required to provide a diagnosis. This diagnosis becomes part of your health record which may be accessed when seeking future health care coverage or applying to certain employment. As a self-pay client, no formal diagnosis is required to justify counseling, though we will work with any previous diagnosis, as appropriate.

Under Section 2799B-6 of the Public Health Service Act and its implementing regulations, health care providers, health care facilities, and providers of air ambulance services are required to provide a good faith estimate of expected charges for items and services to individuals who are not enrolled in a group health plan or group or individual health insurance coverage, or a Federal health care program, or a Federal Employees Health Benefits (FEHB) program health benefits plan (uninsured individuals) or not seeking to file a claim with their group health plan, health insurance coverage, or FEHB health benefits plan (self-pay individuals) in writing (and may also provide it orally, if an uninsured (or self-pay) individual requests a good faith estimate in a method other than paper or electronically), upon request or at the time of scheduling health care items and services.

Sliding Scale

We do offer a select number of sliding scale spots for those who may be uninsured or have demonstrated financial need. Please reach out to us to inquire about current sliding scale availability.
